The only Michelin Star restaurant in Bath, England.
The olive tree is a restaurant attached to the gorgeous Queensberry Hotel. When I first looked at visiting Bath, it was more for the scenery and history of the City. I had no idea we would find a Michelin-star restaurant.
Using simple, fresh local produce creates a modern fine dining experience. It’s easily my favourite menu/restaurant experience, it’s fine dining, but it doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable, it’s in a really nice intimate setting, and the staff are so attentive.
What menus do they offer?
They offer a ‘SIX’ or ‘NINE’ menu with various options; they also include dairy-free, pescatarian, vegetarian and vegan versions of the 9 courses, so there is something for everyone. They offer breakfast, lunch and a children’s menu as well.
We opted for the 9 courses, which costs £155. The 6 menu costs £125; now, the menu does change seasonally, and we went in December, so we had the most stunning winter menu ( I really want to return for the summer menu!) For extra, you can have wine paired with the meal as well.
The menu is split into 3 starters, 3 mains and then 3 desserts (if you booked the nine menus). When the first dish came out, I thought, ‘This isn’t going to fill us up’, but by the end of it, I didn’t finish 1-2 of the desserts because I was so full up! They time everything perfectly, the staff explained each dish as they served, and each plate looked like artwork. Some of the meals are honestly the best things I have ever tried; I used to be the most basic eater, and I hadn’t heard of some of the ingredients on this menu, let alone tried! There seemed to be a lot of fish on the menu, which I was apprehensive about. I don’t usually order seafood except for prawns, so seeing caviar, trout and monkfish, I was unsure because I had never tried any of those BUT the seafood dishes and the veal were my favourite dishes!
They know what they’re doing and balance the flavours out to perfection. So even if you think you won’t like a dish, I am confident you will if you try!

To start We were given a Huntsham Farm raw beef taco, sour cream, spring onion and Birds Eye green chilli followed on shortly by 3 of the starter courses:
Chalk stream trout, cured, wasabi, Granny Smith apple, dill.
Veal sweetbread, gem lettuce, Westcombe ricotta, hazelnut, salted lemon.
Isle of Skye Langoustine, poached, kohlrabi, Tahitian Vanilla, lovage.

Cornish Monkfish, cooked over Binchotan, leek, ginger, Vin Jaune, and sea herb.

Do not let this restaurant pass you by. If you’re located around Bath or considering visiting, this must make it onto your Itinerary.
